Direct sales, home party plans, network marketing, multi-level marketing, and home business opportunities all have one thing in common,
they deal with earning a commission based off the sale (or sales) of specific products. The difference, however, lies in the
presentation.
Direct sales businesses work best for men and women who don't want to build businesses from scratch, enjoy meeting new people and
interacting with a small group, don’t mind selling products, and find the challenge of helping others reach success a win-win situation.
From the customer standpoint, direct sales and home party plans usually work like this: you’re invited to a friend’s house for a party,
but when you arrive you don’t dance, you mingle with the guests, eat a few snacks, and then sit down to watch a presentation given by
the host’s consultant. After the presentation is over you have the option of buying any of the items you saw demonstrated or the items
listed in the catalog next to your drink. If you don’t have the money or don’t want to buy anything that day, you can ask to have the
consultant visit your home where you host the party for a group of your friends and earn free gifts or discounts on the products based
on how many sales you make during your party.
From the consultant standpoint, direct sales and home party plans usually work like this: you’re introduced to the company through a
party, website, or consultant, you like the products and the pay structure and want to earn a little extra money, you sign a contract
and buy a kit with sales material and product, you hold a few parties (or shows) and sell a few products, you turn in the orders and
payment, take the orders to the hostess and let her distribute them to the guest, and then you wait for your commission check from the
main company.
