Lia Sophia Direct Sales Consultant

Today I had the honor of interviewing Tamara, a direct sales consultant with Lia Sophia.

Why did you choose to become a Lia Sophia Jewelry consultant?
It chose me! I was actually browsing the Internet when I stumbled across the Lia Sophia jewelry. I liked what I saw so I requested a catalog. When I received the catalog I was so impressed with the jewelry that I signed up to become an advisor right away.

I was more interested in the jewelry and less interested in starting my own business, but I thought I would at least give it a try. I had so much fun doing shows, meeting new people, and getting out of the house that I forgot I was making money, too! That’s what’s so great about Lia Sophia jewelry: it’s fun and the product really sells itself.

When did you start your career as a consultant for Lia Sophia?
I started with Lia Sophia in October of 2005 and was promoted to Unit Manager in April of 2006. After just a few shows, I knew I wanted to be a manager so I set some realistic goals. Once I set my goal to become manager the business just took off!

How long did it take you to start earning a profit with Lia Sophia Jewelry?
Because we have a very low the start up cost (just $149) we can easily make a profit after just $330 in sales. So I made a profit with my very first show!

The start up cost was the only out of pocket expense I have incurred with Lia Sophia. All the money I put into my business, since that initial start up cost, has come from profit.

How has the business worked around your family?
I make my own schedule and only do shows when it’s convenient for me and my family. Being my own boss, with Lia Sophia allows me to work around my family’s schedules.

While my family has been very supportive and helpful, I’ve learned a little trick that really helps make working from home smoother. Once a month we, as a family, do something special together and we do it with part of the income I earn from my Lia Sophia business.

What was the most difficult thing about starting your own Lia Sophia business?
The most difficult thing I’ve experienced since working with Lia Sophia is keeping up with the growth of my business. It has surprised me how quickly it has grown in such a short period of time. But I am not complaining!

What do you do to make your business successful, while still meeting your mom duties?
When it comes to my business, I try to accomplish as much as possible in the house so that I can spend as little time as possible outside the house. Doing parties is really the only time I spend outside my home.

When making my schedule, I always put my kids first because they are my priority. I love being apart of a business that allows me to feel like I don’t have to compromise being a good mother in order to be a good business person. With Lia Sophia I feel that I am good at both!

Another bonus is that my husband was able to quit his job, thanks to the income I make with Lia Sophia―which means we're both here for the kids when they need us and I no longer have to work my business around his schedule or the sitter's schedule.

Where do you find your clientele for Lia Sophia parties?
The key to being successful is to always look for new leads. Because I really love the products, I try to share the Lia Sophia opportunity with everyone I meet.

Getting a compliment on a piece I am wearing is an easy opening to share what I do. I am truly excited about what I do and the jewelry that I sell, that it rubs off on others, too!

What have you found to be your best form of advertising?
Word of mouth. All of my customers and hostesses have been so pleased with the jewelry and their shows that they encourage others to host parties and introduce Lia Sophia to their friends as well.

How do you help your Lia Sophia downline promote their businesses?
I am always available to help my team members become successful. I help educate and train each of my team members. I find out what their individual goals are, and then I help them reach those goals. And finally, I am always on the look out for new and innovative ways to find more leads and give my team the best training possible.

Is there ever a time you call it quits with a downline?
Currently I have 300 active recruits and have never had to call it quits and don’t plan to. Everyone has her own goals and my job is to help her reach those goals. It’s not my job to tell her how to run her business. That being said, all of my current recruits have exceeded their own personal expectations.

The great thing about the Lia Sophia business is that advisors can conduct their business as they see fit and Lia Sophia sets their recruits up to succeed.

If a mom were to say to you, “I want to work from home, but I just cannot sell.” What would you say?
I never thought I was a sales person and I still don’t think I am, but the jewelry really sells itself. With Lia Sophia, you don’t need to be a professional sales person; you just need to LOVE the product.

Lia Sophia offers the highest quality products and latest fashions, plus our hostesses get some of the best benefits in the business. This makes booking shows easy. My hostesses earn an average of $240 in FREE JEWELRY and with our hostess discounts can receive around $700 in jewelry for less than $100. That’s not a deal, that’s a steal! It truly keeps my calendar full.

Don’t let fear stop you from trying. Just give yourself a chance! I did and have been very successful. You can sell our products. You can be your own boss. You can start your own business.

Thank you very much for allowing me to interview you.
