Donate Your Used Cellular Phone
All materials copyrighted

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 130 million cellular phones were put out of commission in 2005—all of which contain metals (like mercury) and materials (like lead) that are hazardous to both human beings and the environment in which we live.

Imagine 130 million cellular phones per year, dumped in our landfills, seeping into our water supply and into our soil (in which we grow our food and where our children play)? What if that landfill were next to your home? Would you be willing to compromise your health or that of your children simply because you wanted a newer, more technologically advanced cellular phone?

Think RECYCLING.

The next time you are ready to toss your old cell phone, think of the environment.

Some cellular phone users sell their cellular phones to earn cash, but what if you could change the world by donating your cellular phone instead?

There are many wonderful non-profit organizations willing to take your cellular phone off your hands. And in exchange, you’ll get a nice little tax write-off and the organization, of your choice, will receive the necessary funding to keep its cause alive.

You can donate your cellular phone to one of the following organizations, or you can contact your favorite charity to find out if they have a program in place.

BUT…

Before you donate that cellular phone make sure you erase all personal data so that your important and personal information doesn’t end up in the hands of the wrong person. To erase (or delete) information off your cell phone, you can contact your cell phone carrier for more information or you can visit Wireless Recylcing’s free data erase site at WirelessRecycling.com.
