Was your childhood less than perfect? Did you long for happier times with your mother? Are you having a difficult time deciphering
between your “mom’s thoughts” and your own? Do you wish there was a better way of setting boundaries and dealing with the hurts of the
past? And finally, do you long to have a new and exciting relationship with your mother—one that allows you to feel good about yourself?
Then you’ll want to pick up a copy of Making Peace With Your Mom because it’s an incredible book!
In 137 pages, adult daughters are able to move beyond the hurt to a place of healing. Throughout the book, we read real-life comments
about other mother-daughter relationships and discover healthy, healing ways to deal with those issues.
An added bonus is the fact that the short, but powerful, comments help us to understand that we are not alone and that no relationship
is without flaws. Then through honest, often difficult questions, we’re asked to rediscover these relationships, how they’ve affected
us, and how we can move past them to a place of complete healing.
At one point, I couldn’t help but think, “What about women who lost their parents to death? How can this book help them?” Then, I
happened upon a special section in the book dedicated to healing our mother-daughter relationships long after our mothers have passed
away. As I look back on my relationship with my own mother, I could honestly say there were areas, even when she was alive, that I had
to grieve what wasn’t and what could never be.
The truth is that my relationship with my mother wasn’t always perfect; the early years were very difficult and riddled with pain. But
in 1998 we put aside our hurts and anger and we did many of the exercises in this book (before we knew there was a proper way to handle
things) and our relationship moved from painful to joyous. Sure it still had its ups and downs, but it was a good relationship.
If your relationship needs a little healing, I highly recommend you pick up a copy.
