Review
I love watching episodes of I Love Lucy. Lucille Ball has a great way of making life seem better; and her comedic antics are a
great way to relieve stress. In fact, I watched an episode the other day that really put things in perspective.
In this particular episode, I was reminded that sometimes the grass isn’t always greener on the other side and that family is so very
important—which was really a great episode for me since we were in the process of trying to decide on our next move.
In this particular episode, Lucy was finally getting her lifelong dream. She was going to be in pictures and was asked to stay in
Hollywood, California. But her family was returning home to New York and she’d be without them for over a year—maybe longer. Weighing
the odds was stressful, but in the end Lucy gave up her dream and returned home to her family and friends. In another episode, a few
years later, she gets another chance at showbiz and takes it. But her grueling schedule left little time for her husband, child, and
friends. Once again, her lifelong dream was within her grasp, but she gave it up because the realty was—she already had what she really
wanted...her family and friends.
Which got me thinking about life and how we sacrifice so much in search of fulfilling our dreams and how along the way, we lose sight
of what’s really important—the relationships sitting right in front of us.
